A woman can become a "sick, twisted victim" if properly abused by a man....whose fault is that? And why shouldn't she "play" the victim...when she was MADE one??? What other role has she been fitted for?" -- I wholeheartedly agree, but today Israelis have an army, a navy, nuclear weapons, and enjoy a sophisticated domestic and foreign intelligence services. They are accomplished millionaires and billionaires, with international organisations lobbying on their behalf; they have had the backing of one of the strongest most influential banking families, the Rothchilds, who played a critical role in gaining sponsorship from Britain in creating their state. They are vastly more represented in the media than any other minority group, more than African-Americans, Latinos, or American Indians, or even women. They play the neighborhood bully by one day threating to bomb Iran, or bombing Gaza, or South Lebanon. They say the only language the Arabs understand is force, well when their elite soldiers were pissing in their pants running back to their northern border when they realized that Hezbollah fighters were willing to go toe to toe with them, they left Lebanon, after occupying and destroying that country for 18 years, and being responsible for the murder of over 20,000 Lebanese, mostly civilians. Victim or not, why must the world's wealthiest minority group, with the fourth largest army, who's state is subsidized by US tax dollars, and who's lobbies have made political speech critical of Israeli apartheid policies "anti-Semitic" at U.C schools. Why should they get a pass? Since the Holocaust, they've been many other atrocities perpetrated against innocent people, some of those crimes directly caused by the Israelis, or they played some part in it, like the genocide of the Maya in Guatemala; or their support for Apartheid South Africa, which in turn, or Mubutos's Zaire. You know, if I read in Haaretz, as I do almost daily, that Israelis were at least conflicted about the disproportionate attack on the civilians of Gaza; or shared some human sentiments about the murder of little girls and boys, I'd be somewhat more like I used to be toward Israel, somewhat more sympathetic since for Goy, I'm quite aware of their history and suffering. But when I read about Israelis having picnics on hilltops over Gaza and watching the wanton slaughter of a besieged, defenseless people through binoculars while drinking beer and high-fiving one-another, then I start to lose what respect and understanding I had for them -- especially when grown adult Israeli men and women tweet about "roasting Arab babies". And I'm not alone in feeling this way. This is a common disgust shared among progressive Jews, or as Israelis refer to them, "self-hating Jews". --------------------- |
