Our Assyrian relatives do keep in touch with us and call from time to time. My mom is a quite a lovable person and she was always treated kindly, but there were few of the old-timers who would say things about Muslims that always made me feel uncomfortable. And you're right regarding Muslims who convert. Most who do convert are Shia who know nothing about Islam, whether Shia or Sunni. Many claim that they are Zardosht (Zoroastrian). In Iran becoming Christian is like a step up toward the upper-class. That and getting a nose-job and a dog. They think becoming Christian makes them modern or European. Class is a big issue with Iranians. I knew a girl who would never let anyone know were she lived, because she was embarrassed for not living in Beverly Hills. So she would have all of her friends pick her up in front of a huge mansion in Beverly Hills. I'm not kidding. --------------------- |
