The reason he is supporting Asad, who is Muslim, is because he happens to be a secular dictator and an Alawi. They think this is good for them and perhaps a Sunni Muslim wouldn't tolerate them. It isn't Muslims who didn't tolerate them but they themselves can't tolerate each other nor can they live as loyal citizens in a Muslim country. They feel entitled to more and don't believe they should have to obey the laws of their countries since they are living under "Islamic occupation". That's why they are always willing to team up with whichever invader comes along as long as they can kill Muslims. Those Christians who lived as loyal citizens and prospered are usually called sellouts for not following their bigoted ideas. Look at Aprim, who sits at home, and orders Assyrians in Iraq not to do business with Kurds and don't be loyal to Iraq.
