The one thing I learned in my 4th grade science class was that energy is neither created or destroyed, it just is... Now if certain people want to personify energy as an old, sadistic man with a beard, that's their choice. I tend to agree with Freud who said that the need for religion stems from fear of the unknown. "The derivation of religious needs from the infant's helplessness and the longing for a father aroused by it seems to me incontrovertible, especially since the feeling is not simply prolonged from childhood days, but is permanently sustained by fear of the superior power of Fate. I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father's protection". - Freud "Civilization and Its Discontents" --------------------- |
