I think the need to exercise their Reason is far more important than the need for a protecting father...if the father is truly protective, I wonder if the child even knows what that is...but children demand Reason...they are quick to point out injustice....they come equipped with an innate ability to develop fully and well..just as do tiger cubs or baby sparrows...but Human Reason is a very delicate thing...it is the essence of our Humanity, it is the one really unique and "human" thing about us...and it can be perverted really easily, usually by substituting that powerful father/protector/law giver...who too often turns out to be the first traitor in a long series of traitors....
