One of Herbert Marcuse's ideas was that the revolution should be first biologically. He points out that capitalism - through its advertsing apparatus - has created a second nature in man, a pseudo instinct which dictates to buy and consume newer gadgets, cars, and whatever else the system prescribes. The first step should be the refusal to buy what the advetisers through TV and billboards try to subliminally engage us to buy what we don't need. I'm not sure about whether Che met or knew Marcuse, but Che's idea of "A new Man" is in ways similar to that of Marcuse.
