I keep hearing this from even the most tolerant and otherwise not prejudice individuals who warn that Islam is dangerous and it's what's causing the actions from Muslims. Listening for the evidence is even more silly. As intelligent Hitchens was, the best he could bring was Algerian pirates or Iraqis who been devastated for decades fighting back with what they can against a gang of more advanced nations. The reason I can't buy this is because of history which covers the Islamic world well and how Muslims have behaved during their history. If Islam was always this way and it's supposed to be violent and Muslims are required to make us all surrender to their religion, then one would have expected them to carry such things out and they should have committed all kinds of atrocities comparable to Christian behavior, but we don't see that. The Quran has always been the same and had it required Muslims to be violent savages, they would have been fighting throughout their history and not only for defensive purposes.

There is certainly violence in the Quran but far less than in the bible and not in the same fashion as the bible. There aren't any orders to "spare" no one, not even an ox or a tree. There is definitely violence in Muslim history, but, again, it's not equivalent to what Christianity has done to its own and to others. The idea is that Islam is violent while Christianity is not but somehow Christians have committed more atrocities that nobody comes close to. We know Romans were violent and ruthless but they didn't become better after accepting Christianity, which was for political purposes to begin with. We can even look at more recent times such as the US which is very Christian and also a very war loving nation with a culture fascinated with violence and weapons. How can these things be explained when they're not supposed to go together? I don't believe any religion calls on its members to be violent. All religions expect teach obedience, patience, honesty etc. These things weren't invented by religions but they all have the golden rule but that doesn't stop certain people from doing harm or committing injustice. It's really simple, if Islam is simply like this, we would find plenty of vicious Muslims all over and throughout history and there wouldn't be a need for the US to conspire, invent, entrap, fabricate and through proxy. The Islamic world has had various religions coexisting for centuries and that wouldn't be possible if it calls for eradication of others. I think one has to definitely be a little prejudiced and ignorant to come up with such conclusions. The Arab gulf countries are wealthy and they haven't spent their wealth making weapons but instead they invest in making their country better or spend money on sex, porn, drugs, white women, little boys and anything except weapons. We would see militants all over the world and every country would invest in weapon programs but we see Muslims have had no such desires or ambition.
