If most Assyrians were as nice as you are, we would be getting somewhere. Unfortunately, there are so many who lie, twist and exaggerate about historical events. I have seen "Turks" on the internet that were remorseful for what happen but chances are they're not aware of all the facts. One thing I have never seen any Turk deny is that they did kill some Christians during that time period and being apologetic for it is a good thing but there are so many who never apologize. Look at black people in America or the American Indians. One could start with a simple apology and white people have never been willing to do so. There were also many Turks who were massacred during that same time period.

I still say that had we stayed out of what the Euros wanted and had we remained loyal to the Turks, this could have been prevented. A good example is how the Christians who were living in other Turkish cities were left unharmed and churches remained open as if nothing happened and with no fear. Also during this whole time, we don't hear about Jews being killed by these same Turks, and in fact, Israel has recognized Turkey for saving the lives of thousands of Jews who fled Nazis. This does not sound like a blood thirsty people who were just out to murder Christians all of the sudden. There had to be a cause and there is a reason that all the killings took place in that one area of Turkey and not all over. It was a time of war and people on al sides were killed, and even many more died from starvation and disease, and that's on all sides. It was a tough period for all sides and innocent people died on all sides.

I don't think Turkey has ever denied or disputed that Christians were killed by the government in 1915, what is argued is the genocide claims and that Turks were out to wipe out all Christians in the land. For over 600 years, Christians in lived in peace under the Ottoman rulership, the millet system was a beauty and Christians had no fear and little to complain about. There were many who had government positions during all those centuries and we have records that in 1915, the same time we are told the genocide took place, three more Christians were elected to government positions. There is just too much that does not add up right about the claims. I am more than willing to change my views if I encounter evidence as I have nothing invested in this, but I haven't seen it yet and have challenged and researched it myself.
