The only thing that comes to mind is that there is a rumor that Kubrick had directed the fake moon landing. There's a group of conspiracy theorists who think that the Apollo landing was a hoax and the entire thing was put together by Kubrick and I guess the CIA and NASA. I never read the entire article. Maybe Kubrick was having fun playing along with the conspiracy theorists. I'm surprised he would make such a mistake.
