Well said.

One of the interesting things in Dr Joseph's book is the explanation for the term "Syria" and "Syrian". It was the Jews who used these terms to replace "Aram" and "Arameans" when they translated the bible from the Aramaic for the Hellenized Jews of Alexandria...to be honest with ourselves we have to admit that until the First World War we have always refered to ourselves as Suraye....as close to Syrian as you can...that's because we adopted the Aramaic language and traditions long ago...when we gave up on Ashur and Akkadian and forgot our own history.

In other words, we called ourselves Arameans....in fact the Suryoyos never changed...they remain Suryoyo, their version of Suraye, to this day...although even a few of them have been infected by this assyrian thing and now call themselves Othuryoyo....meaning Aturaye...and this word, Aturaye, is what we started calling ourselves after 1918, or so....throughout our history we called ourselves Suraye...Syrians or rather Arameans.

This business about how there was always a "lost A" in front of Suraye...so that we really always knew we MEANT we were Asuraye, or Aturaye, is just a bit of clever tomfoolery...no one can explain why the "A" went missing and where it's been all this time.

It's true...Christians of Mesopotamia looked to the Arabs as their liberators and indeed they were allowed to practise their religions in freedom so long as they kept the peace and stopped brawling in the streets over Christ...Christians later would escape in the night to Ottoman lands to get away from their rapacious and oppressive bishops...and we all know what the Romans, East or West, would have done to our Christians if they'd captured them...either the stake or forced conversion. In reality Islam SAVED our ungrateful sects and it was only their own double-dealing and treachery that brought retaliation down on their heads...and no one, absolutely no one killed as many Christians as other Christians have....the loss of numbers in the MidEast was due to thousands entering monasteries to escape family life...living on top of pillars and hating women and the flesh...that and a natural desire to join the dominant religion, Islam. No one "forced" Christians to convert...it's just their face-saving way of explaining their drastic loss in numbers...and it's still true that the only nation or empire or country to ever tolerate all three religions was the Ottoman...where Jews and Christians could live in peace under the sort of separate status our people are begging for now in northern Iraq...that came as a courtesy of Islam and the Turks and was ruined for us once again by western Christian meddling... while the Christians were murdering Jews and Muslims and each other.

Our people, it seems, are forced to embrace ignorance as the only way to maintain their "greatness"....look at them.
