In my humble opinion, I believe that most Anglos who promote the idea "no liberals gonna take my gun from me," suffer from "penis envy". As an anti-Hollywood cinema enthusiast, I'm reminded of one of my favorite Hollywood films during what I render as Hollywood's Golden Age, or the period of the "auteur" (the auteur being the filmmaker who has complete control over his art: John Cassavetes, Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, and any of the filmmakers who had a vision and painted their celluloid with that vision)... thanks to, again, THANKS to the spirit of the '60's which was probably the only period when the glowing womb of freedom was possible, until the anti-Abortionist Right aborted the child of liberation with the Church and the Pentagon; with the crucifix and the bomb. Excuse me from being off-track and off-point: I just smoked a joint and my mind wanders from Catholics to cookies.
Anyway, the point (if there is a point to be made) is that I remembered a scene in Martin Scorsese's brilliant "Taxi Driver", where a passenger (played by Scorsese)directs the cabbie (De Niro) to a location (an apartment) and tells him: "do you see the woman at the window?... well that's my wife... that's not my apartment... you know who lives there?.. A nigger lives there... and I'm gonna kill'em... I'm gonna kill'em with a 44 Magnum... you know what a 44 Magnum will do to a woman's face? ... Now if you know what a 44 Magnum can do to a woman's face.. imagine what it would do to a woman's pussy -- I bet you think I'm CRAZY"? For those of you not familiar with the film, Travis Bickle (De Niro) ends up buying a 44 Magnum, because he has plans to assassinate a senator because the senator's campaign helper played by Cybill Shepherd turned him down when he tried to woo her. I have an inkling that the "Arizona shooter" had a crush on the congresswoman, and in turn, sublimated (in the most negative and darkest way) his "love" for her through his penistol.
