"...that since WW I, after the Labor Movement and Unions and such, Power realized it was becoming increasingly harder to control people by force....so, while free speech remained and was touted as the be all and end all of freedom, Power turned to thought control....spreading propaganda, weakening real education and also corporate control of the media....interesting.

...that explains the fact that free speech is almost useless these days...sure, go ahead and "speak freely"...as long as nothing comes of it."

-- Chomsky also points out that instead of the bludgeon, it was much more effective to use public relations (propaganda) and perception management (thought control). This idea was derived from the works of Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis on individuals which his American nephew, Edward Bernays, put into effect on the masses (mass psychology), whom he saw as mere spectators, and nothing more. Bernays' daughter in an interview revealed how her "liberal" father despised democracy... and I have to agree with him, since a true democracy will only work when the entire people, no matter from which socioeconomic class, is educated and well-informed to be able to make the right decisions; otherwise, we are trapped and beaten down by the choices of a majority who votes against their own class and economic interests. Incidentally, these steps toward a self-induced fascism were historically brought upon when "liberals" were in power, like Wilson's "Red Scare" which was used as an assault against the Labor Movement, which smashed the Industrial Workers or the World (IWW), better known as "Wobblies". The other "liberals" who shared the same sentiments as Bernays were the intellectuals of their day, Ivy Lee and Walter Lippmann. As a matter of fact, it was always the democrats and liberals like Truman, who dropped the Atom bombs on the Japanese, even though it was clear that they were about to collapse entirely and give in to the Allies; or Kennedy, who sent advisers to Vietnam in 1961, and ordered the bombing of South Vietnam the following year. And let's not forget the terror Kennedy unleashed on the Cubans as a favor to his father's mobster casino capitalists, Santo Trafficante and Carlos Marcello, in addition to Chicago Outfit boss, Sam Giancana, who helped get JFK elected when Jack Kennedy asked Sinatra for a favor to make sure that he won the crucial state of Illinois, Giancana's home turf. And the same could be said about "liberal" Clinton who destroyed welfare and gave us NAFTA, which devastated the small Mexican farmers when they were crushed by US Agribusiness, impelling them to make that deadly trip to the North, and become wage slaves and scapegoats, due to their portrayal by the Mainstream Media (MSM) painting them as "illegal aliens" who are taking "all of the good jobs from red blooded Americans". Then there's "liberal" Obama... no need to say anything about him, nor Hillary, who is bank-rolled by the wealthy Israeli, Haim Saban, just as Sheldon Adelson is pumping his casino blood money into the other camp, with a promissory note of nuking Iran, the thorn in Israel's side, and an impediment for Netanyahu's dream of being the only hegemon in the entire region. No wonder why liberals feel guilty about critiquing Obama and Hillary, just as they were when it came to Camelot, JFK. It's a brilliant strategy stemming from Machiavelli, a favorite read for gangsters, politicians and banksters.

By the way, I suggest that you watch HBO's miniseries on Frank Sinatra. It's last two showings are tonight at 7pm, and tomorrow night, also at 7pm. Don't miss it.
