The Republicans are right, the corporations ARE job builders. Only not in America: They build jobs in El Salvador, Indonesia, Vietnam. It's a great concept. They coerce mafia-style IMF loans to poor countries with corrupt leaders (whom they handpick). The leaders buy yachts and palaces and 2,700 pairs of shoes for their wives (let alone all the Victoria Secrets lingerie for their many mistresses). Meanwhile, the people starve, those unafraid of dying revolt and they get tortured and crushed and made an example to anyone who might get any ideas. Then the IMF loan shark shows up for the collection, but the interest on the forced loan literally cost arms and legs of labor. So the "humanitarian" solution is for NIKE or Walmart to build factory sweatshops where starving, desperate people will work for pennies for 16 hour shifts, seven days a week. It's not just job building, it's exporting democracy. --------------------- |
