What makes it so funny to me is that a historian like Juan Cole is held in the same regard as Aprim who is not a historian but writing about it. They're both just following their own "opinions" and "what is true to you is not true for me". Not only is this so silly and absurd to even talk about but they don't see anything wrong with this. They don't see that one is just an opinion, more like filled with bigotry, and the other is a fact found through research and examining evidence. Juan Cole isn't following merely his own opinion and printing them in books. A scientist who already has his belief and will not change them no mmatter what is not being an actual scientist. You can have your opinions but you must be willing to change those views once you encounter evidence which contradicts your opinions. Aprim is not a historian so it doesn't matter what his opinion is but he won't change his views regardless of what evidence there is. Fortunately for this world, he is no historian so it really don't matter what the hell has to say. He puts his hatred in writing and pays people to print his books. I can do that and so can anyone. This is the thing that I find the most sad is that there is no difference between someone who is respected and expert in his field and someone who has no business writing about the subject still writes about it. The opinions and bigoted views of the non-experts are held in higher regard than those of the experts. No wonder they only read wikipedia because that is the only place they find something which agrees with them and they then think they presented their evidence but the challenger won't accept them. Bet-Shlimon did it and continues to do it. He will give you a link to his Coptic website and then say how many times will give you proof and you reject it. Or he'll take a quote totally out of context and think he did it. they think they can reject and ignore what we post(because they think those historians are just following their own opinions and we are following our own too) the same way we reject theirs, except what we reject is not evidence and would be totally ignored by any scholar or by any court. This wouldn't hold water in court. A university doesn't pay the professionals money and then take the works of an amateur. Universities don't go to Sargon Dadeesho, who bought his degree, when they want to know something. They go to the experts and the libraries on campus and any library is full of books written by the professionals in their fields. Fred Aprim's book is not in a library, you don't even find it in book stores. You have to order it online and what student or person that cares reads it? The only people who read those books are the same few who stroke their balls on the forums they all write on. The same people who post on those forums are the ones who read those books and then say "you dumb ass, read Aprim's new book instead of getting your info from Jews and CIA" as Shlimon says. --------------------- |
