We got fooled by the glossy cover, but the narrative still read the same -- even worse. We were promised hope and change and got short-changed on the hope... and the promise. As the late Gil Scott-Heron put it "there is no promise land,.. there is only the promise." And as the former Panther, Pete Oneal says: "America... is like talking about how great a dish of food is in the kitchen of a sinking ship... totally irrelevant."
