Dear Rashad,

How do you know they were terrorists? It was only claimed by the US. If they were terrorists in the eyes of Bush just because he said it, why can't Saddam hold the same right?

There were no terrorists or terrorist attacks on Iraq when Saddam used to torture his people and the Iraqis weren't petrified of him for no reason. The US never tortured before 9/11.

Why would the Americans torture if they did not have credible information linking the inmates to terrorism? Do they pick up innocent people randomly and torture them? What will they gain?

Pinochet also killed thousands of Chileans and he was on CIA payroll and backed by them. Why didn't they bomb him?

I didn't say they bombed Saddam because he killed his people.

America has also killed its own. They killed the people in Philadelphia(move movement). Then there was Wacko Texas where more Americans were killed by the government.

I don't know about those. I googled them and it turned out that the first is a black militant group and the other is some sort of an armed religious cult. They exchanged fire with the police or something?

But I don't see the connection. America doesn't torture and kill its citizens on political grounds. It is a democracy: free speech, right to demonstrate, continuous elections... etc. The secret service will not track you down for criticizing Obama on this forum.

Saddam tried to negotiate and even made attempts to sit down and hold dialogue with the Bush administration but they turned it down. He also once said that Iraq was ready for change and admitted it.

He should have initiated change immediately. No need to sit down with Bush.

He would have stepped down but not at demands of the US and I don't blame him.

He should have stepped down to alleviate the Iraqi people from the cruel sanctions and to spare them from conflict that was to come. Why hold on to power anyway? He did not represent the majority of Iraqis.

Abdel Nasser announced his resignation after losing the war with Israel.

Bush senior met Saddam in the 60s in Egypt. Rumsfeld and cheney both were friends with him and encouraged him to attack Iran. They did not object to anything Saddam did. Regan even called him "America's hero" and Bush called him "our right hand man".

All world leaders meet with each other especially when there's common interest. Even Ben Laden received help from the CIA. It's normal business.

He wanted to embark on war with a country twice Iraq's size and population so it's imperative to seek the US backing in order to secure a source for armaments and obtain political support on the international arena.

And perhaps there was another another reason for this war with Iran besides border disputes. Saddam usurped power and established a minority Sunni rule which was viewed as unrepresentative and illegitimate by the Khomeini regime. It is possible that he viewed Iran as an existential threat to his regime.

Maybe those Palestinians were ass holes.

When Arafat signed the Oslo accords, Gaddafi told them there's no reason for you to stay here anymore, so get out! So much for Arab unity and brotherhood.

He tried too. Him and his son said they would hold election and allow people to decide but the west wasn't having it. They knew he would win because most people wanted him.

They never said so. They insisted that they were merely symbolic figures and that they weren't in power.

They had plenty of time, 40 years, to hold elections.

Libyans also knew they were no match with a population of few million and many being foreigners who just happened to live, work and study there. Those rebels were deployed there from outside.

The rebels were foreign forces, workers and students? And they were in “few million”? Should we also believe Gaddafi when he said that those rebels were acting under the influence of hallucination pills that were distributed to them as free candy? And when he announced, the next day, that they caught a truck full of those drugs? You mean this is some sort of a global, conspiracy hoax and all the governments and media are into it?

Did they really land on the moon?!

Tariq Ali, Blum and Parenti to name a few are a good example.

You mean the UN, The New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, The Guardian, Agence France Press, Reuters, Der Speigel, Al Jazeera, Pravda, Itar Tass... are all unprofessional, biased, propaganda tools of western imperials and therefore we should discredit them and listen to Tariq Ali and Blum instead???

Yeah why is that? Mexicans have been illegally crossing the border to work in the US and yet those homeless can't find jobs?

Lol@ Mexicans. You sound like Bill Oreiley, always trying to blame others. You got jokes.

I'm not blaming. I asking :)
