i meant to say we have syriac speaking christian sects using names such as aramean, chaldean and assyrian for an identity. some cute nationalists ask why don't more muslims of iraq come out and say "we are assyrian" and the answer is simple. "assyrian" today is a religious term for certain christians of iraq. there are plent of muslims are proud of their mesopotamian heritage but they are not as silly as our boys. no one remains pure after thousands of years and religion is not proof that certain someone is pure descendant while another is not. it was the patriarch of the coe who said "only those of our church are true assyrians" and that is absurd.
