...I'm not sure how much assyrian is in Andre's father...but he did speak assyrian...my uncle also boxed and knew him well in Tehran in the 40s and 50s...the father was a champion boxer in Iran...and last I heard he is retired in Las Vegas, he used to work in the casinos....anyway, the story I heard as to the reason Andre wants nothing to do with assyrians is because of the treatment his father received at the hands of assyrians he approached for some sort of scholarship to help pay the lessons and other things for his promising young son....naturally they thought he was trying to make money for himself and sent him packing whereas the Armenian community did provide additional funding...it costs a lot of money to become a tennis champ.

Our idiots have tried to get Andre to hold a tennis exhibition as a fund raiser but he's never responded...because he knows THEY are trying to make money off of him! Also they'd probably make him bring his own tennis balls and Gatorade....cause we is MISKEENI.

Power to Andre. He did us proud and embarrassed us just where we deserved it.
