- Last night I was celebrating the Persian New Year (NOWRUZ)with a group Iranian women in L.A. ("Tehrangeles"). After a few shots of Vodka, great Persian food, dancing, singing, and the endless reciting of Hafez' poetry (and more vodka)... I upset my hostess and her beautiful friends when I suggested that the Persians, like the Assyrians, are no longer "Persians" since they switched from Zahdosht (Zoroastrianism) to Islam, and that instead of Cuneiform, used Arabic script -- the room went cold and silent ending the night and the "new day" because I happened to question the Aryan ancestry which Iranians so passionately hold on to ("WE ARE WHITE!... NOT ARABS!)

Do you see some similarities between the two chauvinistic cultures?
