That's exactly what Aprim does as well. Whenever he sees anywhere it says chaldeans split from the nestorians, he substitutes it with "assyrians" even though that is not what they say. Franz Rosenthal, the dean of Aramaic studies, also says that syria and assyria were never the same. They sound similar but are not same no matter how hard they try. Syria is synonymous with Aram, not Assyria.
