Any historian will tell you that if you are going to call yourself a Historian, and publish a HISTORY book that will fall into the hands of the public, you must study the Classics, and there's no way around it. Apparently you are one of the few that doesn't know that Dr. Joseph was paid by one of the Chaldean diocese to legitimize the compound name, long ago, and way before it came up in late 1990' and later. This is not something new. It is old news. But let us forget that for a minute and concentrate on the issue at hand. If Dr. Joseph DOESN'T know there were historians of antiquity, (way before the Chaldean/Nestorian religious issue) that wrote about the Assyrians, explaining "Suraye", "Suroyo", "Syrian", etc. like Xenephon, Diodorus Siculas, and hundreds other historians, or the fact that Alexander, upon arriving in Mesopotamia said, "Spies told the Macedonian high command that Darius had assembled an enormous army and waited for the invaders on the plains of Assyria" and in another quote where he says "the people of Mesopotamia all call themselves Assyrians" PROVES that Dr. Joseph is wrong, when he says there are no Assyrians but Chaldeans and Nestorians only. He is basing his entire knowledge upon a few hundred years of history, and this why Dr. Joseph falls short. Like you, I didn't think there was anything wrong with what Dr. Joseph wrote but twenty years of research convinced me otherwise. Like I said, some of the research I have run into proves him wrong repeatedly. Unlike him, I HAVE NOT rushed to publish ANYTHING, taking my time to make sure I can back up everything I will say in a book I have working on for years. Unlike Joseph, I realized no matter how long I have been in school, no matter how much research I do, I will NEVER have the full picture, if a few hundred years of history is missing and unaccounted for, which is why this led me to study the classics. That's where you see the whole picture of what actually happened, and that is the part Dr. Joseph is missing, and no amount of improvization will make up for it. Just one question: IF Eden Naby is a professor, and her husband is this big shot at Harvard, HOW COME they can't afford a hotel room for ONE NIGHT in San Francisco, why do they have to BEG to sleep on the floor of a friend? Why there are no stories about the way Eshaya obtained hers, but everyone knows how Eden did it? WHY? Can you expalin that? Any writer or television presenter is accountable to what he/she says or writes. Yes, I have been challenged by many people on TV, mostly through their own ignorance or shock to hear something they never heard before. But they have never come back to prove me wrong. I don't select a subject to write about because I have something to PROVE to the world, so therefore I have to be "selective" in my sources. I write about what is interesting, that's all. But I chose Zinda, because it is the ONLY electronic magazine. This way, future Assyrian children can easily find it if they just type in a few "key" words. I am always look for the truth, but apparently you are not, because you choose to only read books that try to prove we ARE NOT Assyrians.
