Only in your world it is a secret. Almost all Iraqis know and are proud of their Mesopotamian heritage. The people of Hilah, Najaf Karbala, etc call themselves proudly Babylonians. They don't need you or me to tell them and only in your mind it's a secret, but it is not a secret. As for your twisting around words, I never said that you posted in your messages that all Assyrians are 100% but there are lots who do claim that, and many more who give that impression. What you mean by "Assyrianism" is a bunch of crap and it's all propganda. It is a religious thing for you. For others like myself and many more it is an understanding that our great great ancastors were Assyrians, and other Mesopotamian tribes. If my parents had be Catholic, perhaps I would have inherited the "Chaldean" name from them and probably would be reffering to myself as "Babylonian" or "Chaldean". However, in my case, it is not a religious terminology as it is for you people. Any Iraqi is welcomed to use any of the names whether it's Assyrian, Babylonian, Chaldean, Summerian, Akkadian, Amorite, Aramean or whatever else. That is all up to the individual. As far as your version of "Assyrianism" which you claim to be a "nationalistic" thing, this only popped up after ww1. This is confirmed and admitted by the Catholic Encyclopedia, and the Anglican church. They admit that they named the Syriac speaking Nestorians as "Assyrians" and prior to ww1, they were known as "Surayi" which is not the same at all. So, you can get pissed all you want but you are nomore Assyrian than anyone else from Iraq and we can't dictate what or how people feel or what they are going to call themselves. If an Iraqi person wants to call him/herself Assyrian, they are more than welcomed to do so. Nevertheless, in your case, it is nothing but a religious thing and, if a person differs anywhere with you people, you think that person can no longer be Assyrian. Well I got news for you and people of your mentality. There is no conspiracy against "Assyria" nor is anyone intimidated by us or see us as a threat. It is so called "Assyrians" who are the threat to themselves and live in a matrix where they believe they so important that the whole world is affraid of them uniting or propsering. Keep in mind, that the average high school graduate does not know about Assyrians at all, and the few people who have heard of Assyrians, they know it from the Old Testament or some history book which may have a small section on them. However, they do not know of Assyrians in general and definetly not of today's Christians of adopted the names Assyrian and Chaldean. So, my advice to you is change your nasty tactics. Stop being dishonest to your nation Iraq, stop back stabbing and learn from your mistakes. God does not like arrogance, conceiteness, racism, and an evil doing folk. Until we change what is in our hearts we will never achieve anything dealing with "Assyrianism". Stop depending on your priests, your Dadeeshos and Aprims. Instead, put aside your prejudices and accept the offer of the rest of the majority of Iraqis who want to live in peace, unity and harmony. Iraqis can do it too, because we are a country of many tribes/religions, yet survived together for most parts except when westerners came to suck our oil and our resources. For us getting a nation of our own is not important nor is it possible, but we can enjoy our rights, freedom, heritage, language culture and whatever else. That is important. So yeah, we definetely not on the same page when it comes to Assyrianism and that is your problem. It's not me who has a problem with ppl calling themseves whatever but it is you. It is obvious that you people fear other views, opinuions, and mentalties. To you guys, Assyrian is a religious thing and it is importand for you to keep everyone Christian, even if the person is not really Christian as long as the person claims the title. I will not do such thing nor will the pleanty of other Assyrians who are not Christians nor agree with your idealogies. Peace. --------------------- |
