True. For many centuries only priests could read the bible. The first man to ever translate it from English to Latin was murdered. That's where Dawkins and Hitchens miss the point when they say all religions are same. It's not really true. They have different histories and their scriptures have different histories. Quran has always been in hands of people, memorized by thousands, etc. Muhammad said to seek knowledge, and said seeking knowledge for one hour is better than praying many times over. Now it could be because he was uneducated himself and didn't want others to suffer from that. Christianity was the religion of the ignorant from the start. The majority were poor and uneducated and it remained so for long time. That's why kings of Europe would send their children to school in Muslim world during those days because education was thriving and superior to that in Europe. Christianity has been successfully by keeping it's population ignorant. While they point fingers at Islam, they fail to realize that Christianity uses the biggest propaganda and brainwashing. That's why it's the official religion of US empire and capitalism.
