The Nazis defined Jews as "Untermenschen" (subhuman) during the war in Europe, and instead of wasting resources (bullets, carbon monoxide showers) in their attempt to annihilate the "vermon", they had meetings to engineer frugal means to reach their attempted goals: Zyclone B.

When I had rats in my humble apartment, the exterminator engineered frugal means to exterminate the vermon.

When the media defines a people (or 10%) of them as "terrorists" or "suicide bombers", it makes it easy for the good ol' Church going Christians to say, well, "they don't value life" and we need to secure our homeland uber alles by giving up our rights and trust our leaders to find the untermenschen and to terminate them "with extreme prejudice."
