What the Romans didn't want Jesus to have said, he would not have. The ultimate authority on what we are allowed to know about Jesus was the Roman Empire because THEY discovered Christianity...and Rome, telling itself that it had a mission to "spread the good word", was like getting God's permission to go slaughter people and steal their resources, like they had always done, but this time they had the blessings of the Prince of Peace.

...being Evangelical gave Christians carte blanche to do as they pleased under the guise of telling people all about wonderful Jesus, while robbing them blind.
