Historically Americans used to show contempt for the one born with the silver spoon already in his mouth...they valued the one who earned it all hisself, usually after a hardscrabble early life. It's a measure of how despondent we have become, how hopeless in our own chances that we now look up to a rich kid born with every advantage and yet who STILL manages to fuck up regularly....we no longer hope to earn it ourselves but in a weird, retro way, be re-born with it...maybe it's a part of the passion to be "Born Again" as a Christian.... maybe also as a rich pink baby.
