"Martin Luther was well aware that reason was religion's arch-enemy, and he frequently warned of its dangers: 'Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but more frequently than not struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God.' Again: 'Whoever wants to be a Christian should tear the eyes out of his reason(and definitely out of his neighbor's eyes, mine).' And again: 'Reason should be destroyed in all Christians'."

...and it's being done.

Our own goofy assyrians, even when they rail against what Christianity has done to assyrian "unity", were all raised in Christian households....or rather, the ones most dedicated to the idea that they are real ancient assyrians and deserve to get assyria "back", are of this religious stripe (because at its core, this is all faith-based anyway).....you might as well be discussing Jesus with them, for all that they rail against the religion, because they have the same inane, glazed-eyes look and squishy discourse when you discuss politics, their identity and anything else which requires REASON. They have no idea HOW to reason...how to figure out the difference between fact and opinion and why it matters...or even the need for facts at all, such as when they claim Muslims murdered Christians JUST for being Christians, and never bother to provide a single fact for such an absurd claim, or even think they NEED to.

This is a religious mind-set...the result of a mind already poisoned by this fear of human Reason which is the main ingredient in the witches-brew of Christian muck they were fed...even if they later disavow the religious content of it, they go away mistrusting, fearing and ultimately not knowing Reason, or how to do it, having never practiced it and, more, feared it...but then, if Jesus could get them assyria, they would LOVE religion...and for a long time they thought he could; thought that by kissing Euro Christian arse, thinking that their common religion and faith in Jesus would make Euros "do something to save us". Only after ample proof that western Christians not only don't care, are not impressed AND really believe that eastern Christianity isn't really "Christian" at all, have they, even they, sadly concluded that Jesus won't get them that oil...at least they managed to figure THAT out...but hardly by using their Reason which, if they had, would have shown them that no one has killed more Christians than CHRISTIANS!
