So, I was watching some videos on YouTube today about Yosemite National Park, and stumbled across some videos I recall watching back in Summer 2011 about the three Assyrians who fell to their deaths at Vernal Falls. I was reading the Comments section, and noticed the comments, particularly the ones posted by Assyrians mentioned that this was an accident. As if the two individuals climbing over the rail, as if they were coerced by the 300 foot drop and strong currents. Instead of their obvious lack of basic cognitive acumen, subsequently leading to their inevitable demise. Even though, according to the eye witness accounts, it was their own bewildering indifference to heed the warning signs. They deliberately ignored the precautions. You know, you would think that a 317-foot waterfall, accompanied by rapid currents, slippery granite rocks and large boulders at the bottom would convince someone that, maybe, just maybe defying the rules isn't such a great fucking idea. And that survival is more important, than capturing pictures of you NEAR A RAGING WATERFALL! --------------------- |
