..."A Nation...is a group of persons united by a common error about their ancestry and a common dislike of their neighbors." Karl Deutsch, "Nationality and its Alternatives". 1969 If ever a definition of "nation" fit assyrians, this is it. Couldn't resist peeking into his book....I include Taco in the title to get his attention because I want to see him "fight for assyria"...these people have gone out of their way, obviously, to AVOID their enemies...they have run from Iraq and everywhere else to Disneyland...and if a Muslim moved in next door, they'd pack up and run again..or at least hide the harder. We, on the famous other hand, go looking...and Taco is an "enemy" of ours. It isn't our fault he's the way he is...this is what assyria offers as HEROES. Actually he, personally, is no enemy. How could he be? It's the idea of nationalism, as ineffectual as it is with these people that's the enemy...and so long as people back home mistakenly think these Tacos are their "enemies", they will continue to get at the only Christians they can lay their hands on. So, we'll just keep dragging Taco out of hiding and slap him around...or, more correctly, watch as he slaps hisself silly. --------------------- |
