Let's assume for a moment that the world would fully recognize the modern Assyrians, who only became Assyrian around less than a century ago, as the ligit and direct descendants of the ancients. Let's ignore the fact that these people knew nothing of the ancients except for things that others knew too from the Bible for the most part. Despite not knowing anything about the ancients, let us accept the modern Christians of Iraq as direct descendants of the ancients, what will that do? What do they expect from that? Do they expect the world to just play by their desires and hand over land, and do special favors for them because they are Christians and Assyrians? If that "world" cared so much about human life, what about the Native Americans, Africans and all the other people that have been devastated by the same people whom these Assyrians are crying to? There are far more peoples with far more ligit and recent cases where they were mistreated or screwed over, yet these Christians who are now "Proud Assyrians" expect differen't results.

The other interesting thing is that these people less than a 100 years ago knew not a damn thing about "Assyrian Pride" or "Sargon". They were reading the Bible all along and they were reading "Isiaha" "Daniel" and all the other books which speak of the ancient Assyrians. They knew about the Isiah mentioning of the Assyrian/Egyptian/Israeli prophecy, how come they didn't think of these passages as speaking of themselves? Where was this "Assyrian pride" which all the sudden exists? I heard all the absurd excuses and non of them are valid or real. If they were truly Assyrians, they would have been aware all along. They would be aware of the ancients, share similiraties, etc, but they have nothing with the ancients. They only became "Assyrians" after the west needed an ally to use and all their knowledge of the ancients comes from the works of foreigners.

In the end, it don'tr matter if they are recognized as Assyrians or not; no other people have gotten anything based on such claims and these people are no exception.
