Since we Nestorians all know we always referred to ourselves as Syrians or Suraye, the more suppposedly educated ones among us set about to prove that Suraye(Syrians) was simply “a truncated form of “Ashuraye” (Assyrian)” and that the two terms meant the same people. They explained that the first letter “A” had gotten itself “lost”, tliqta…this loat “A”, now found, “was now retrieved but placed under a cancellation mark, meaning that it was originally there but was not pronounced. Thus Suryaya was written ‘(A)suryaya’, which, pronounced Ashuraya, also means Assyrian.” You can just see our “bright minds” laboring in a church basement to come up with this bit of farce.

Dr Joseph adds that “Henrichs rightly calls the lost-A hypothesis very ingenious, facilitating the claim of the nationalists…” But Dr Joseph and Heinrichs go on to show that in Armenian the names for Syrian and Assyrians have ALWAYS kept and pronounced the initial “A”…if they didn’t lose it, how did we and why hadn’t we borrowed it back way before this? The Armenian word for Syria/Syrian is Asoric/Asori and Asorestan/Asorestants’i or Asorestanc’i for Assyria/Assyrian…and that even if Syrian was derived from Assyrian, it doesn’t mean the people and culture of geographical Syria are identical to those of geographical Assyria.

…in a footnote at the bottom Dr Joseph writes:

…are these scholars ALL our ENEMIES as well? Do they ALL want to “keep us” from being Assyrians? What the hell is everyone so intent on denying us this supposed thing we are? Unless they hate to see us go on making fools of ourselves.

And that’s ONE FOOTNOTE!!! Jeeszuz h Christ…no WONDER we’re so paranoid seeing “enemies’ under every bush and bed…no wonder this has warped our reasoning faculties and driven people like Maggie over the edge, screaming at every shadow in their mind as a LIAR and a TRAITOR and who knows what else, because the evidence is so plain and palpable and open to examination that you have to go nuts to keep defying your own common sense which, like the little Chinese girls feet are held my her OWN mother, to be broken and bent and deformed, as we have done to our children’s minds for a few hundred years now…and no wonder this has led us to turn on each other with such viciousness that we all see it and sense it and can’t figure out where it comes from till it has forced us to embrace the most ignorant among us as our “saviors” and “experts” and god help us “intellectuals”., while smugly declaring men like Dr Joseph to be the fools and liars out to “get” something and driving them away and our children into th arms of the most venal, greedy and duplicitous among us who “surprise” us every time when we “realize” that they werer all cheats and liars, but always too late..and since it comes form US and this madness we inherited..we feel even MORE sure that someone else is OUT TO GET US..when it’s been us all along…taking aim and shooting our children each and every time…we have given a million martyrs, not to Christianity, but to the idea that we HAVE to be modern Assyrians, crippling our brilliant young minds while they were yet too young to know better how to fight us off and then forcing them through “love” of their unquestioning and fearful parents fearful because to challenge any of this church created skullduggery would been being “lost” and not SAVED… to become the same thing ad nauseum and damage their own bright children down through the ages…and to insist that we are pure and lineal descendants too, for nothing less will do when you fantasize and so you might as well go for broke, since the mental ward doors are open wide to receive us anyway…

…we have just “DONE IT”to ourselves and our children for centuries and, judging from the screws-loose performance of Maggie and others on this subject…we plan to continue raping OURSELVES for a long time yet to come.
