Every single morning for the past 4 mornings I've awoken at 7:15 am to loud crashes, bangs, and other noises which lead me to believe that the sky is falling, or that my neighborhood is under siege. In actuality, the roof on my house is being replaced, and the workers are out bright and early. This has caused me to lose some sleep, as I'm generally in bed until 8:15 or so on workdays, and longer on the weekends. During the day, it unnerved me to hear loud crashes, bangs, and other noises as well as the constant hum of a generator when I was accustomed to silence or near-silence (regular ambient neighborhood noise...cars driving by, a neighbor talking, music, etc.) So then I got to thinking... if I can be sleep deprived and annoyed for 4 days as a result of this, imagine how any Iraqi can still be sane after 4+ years of experiencing a daily life which is 10,000 times worse than what I have described. I know that life isn't fair, but for them to endure what they are enduring so that rich oily white men can get richer, this seems like the height of ridiculousness. And this whole thing about Blackwater being banned from Iraq... what a farce that was. I love how the Iraqis wanted to do that and then their true puppet government status was shown when the US stepped in and said, basically, "Excuse me, Mr. Sand Nigger, no. Our private mercenary army is staying so that they can be paid more of your oil wealth and so that we can bleed the U.S. treasury some more and continue this genocide." Love it. --------------------- |
