...saw on the news scenes of Iraqis voting in America....Bay Area mostly. Some people were waving the "assyrian flag" and there were placards with "assyrian" writing, but the announcer called them only Syrians....not Assyrians.

...so, maybe some good sense is growing and people who hear this fantastical notion for the first time, reject it. Maybe it's just too hard for non-Assyrians to give the name of an ancient nation to a modern people when there is no country in existence by that name....after all, I doubt anyone in the media would consider calling anyone a Gaul, no matter how much that person insisted that he was a DIRECT descendant of the ancient Gauls. Gaul is France today and has been for centuries...just as what used to be Assyria AND Babylonia AND Sumer is now called Iraq.

...to sane people you can be Iraqi, because an Iraq exists...but you can't be Assyrian, mostly because there is no such country recognized anywhere by anyone , except our turkeys....who should go back to Turkey.

Oh, and one last observation, the announcer said that PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP (Iraqi) WOULD HAVE BE SHOWN....so you see you do HAVE to prove who you are...for anything of importance.
