I fully understand that. Like it or not, people will always ask me what I am. In order of the most common guesses, they usually say something like, "Are you..." - Jewish - Italian - Greek - Indian - Mexican They never ask if I'm Assyrian or Chaldean, or even a Persian, Turk, or an Arab. We live in a country and in a world which demands to know your origins. Not only that, as humans we have an innate need to feel like a part of a group. I'm proud to be a part of the human being club, but also it ain't bad to be a member of my wonderful family (clan), and/or from Michigan, a Detroiter, or a Chaldean for that matter. I guess I'll be what I needs to be when I needs to be it. ________________________________ pancho wrote: >...no one said you couldn't be Chaldean...be an Apache if you want. Dr Joseph said that we Nestorians have a very rich and proud and REAL history....there was no need to force onto us an "Assyrian" or "Chaldean" identity....our culture, or community culture, whether it's called Christian Arab or Iraqi or Iraq-American stays the same...a rose by any other name is still a NOSE! --------------------- |
