I just rememered that the Kurds who were willing tools of the Ottoman empire in exchange for promised of a homeland in WW1 also became victims of the new Turkish republic after WW1. Years later they looked back and declared that had they joined their Assyrian neighbours in the uprising they and the Assyrians would today have their own nation states rather than being victims of periodic pogroms much like the Assyrians. --------------------- |
