...an eye-opening and excellent documentary on the Iraq war and the kinds of people who brought it to us...and the techniques they used to convince us we had to do it. Saw, for the first time, the famous farewell speech by President Eisenhower warning Americans of the growth of the military-industrial complex...the missing third element in it turns out to be Congress...you need a Congress, bought and sold, that will raise no protest...mostly because our super-weapons of mass destruction are built by companies in each and every state of the union. The newest element are the so-called "Think Tanks" whose only function is to dream up policies....people who are not beholden to the electorate...who are hired guns, literally, sitting around and designing excuses and reasons and "threats" in order to present the President and Congress with the blueprints needed to achieve the goals of private corporations..mostly our warmongering ones who make themselves filthy rich by scaring us and then selling us "security". Would recommend it highly...the sad thing is that this sort of thing is no longer "shocking". --------------------- |
