...he says it is nonsense to claim that we derive our morality from the Bible....clearly much of it is disgusting and repugnant to our modern sense of morality...two male angels visit Lot...his neighbors tell Lot to send the two out so they can, guess what...Sodomize the two....don't be so unmannerly, says Lot...take my daughter and fuck her instead...and they do, they gang rape the poor girl... or, as the Bible puts it.."and they humbled her all night". Now who approves of this sort of thing today? If ever?

And Lot was the nephew of Abraham, the one who trussed his son up to butcher and burn...some family values!

The Bible is filled with crap like this...so don't tell us we get our sense of right and wrong from the Bible...what we do with that silly book is CHOSE what we want and discard the rest...and since WE are the ones who decide which parts to follow and which to toss out, obviously our moral choices come from US...and not the Bible.

We've been trying to civilize this Barbarian for centuries...and it can't be done. Best let him go hang. And another thing...Dawkins is also right when he says religious indoctrination is child abuse, nothing more or less...and as much as we try to protect children from physical harm, we should worry about their mental health as well....just recall those Jesus documentaries that show young boys and girls of five and ten trembling and muttering and weeping, hands outstretched...this is mental cruelty of the worst kind...all so unnecessary, if the aim is to live good, decent lives.
