....his rally in Washington was about nothing, really...and his comments on the Arizona shooting strike me as equally silly....he tries very ahrd to be fair, to dole out reponsibility to both sides equally, no matter what the facts...he says it would be nice if we could draw a straight line from nut-job talk radio and teevee too...from OīReiley to Palin to Beck and all the rest who daily call for war against our federal government, meaning us, and the recent shooting in Arizona.... But you CAN draw a straight line because this is different...this isnīt extremem groups on Right and Left calling for violent solutions thi is now the Republican Tea Party...THEY drew this line, not us. There is also a direct line to the NRA and the lapse of the assault weapons ban...as well as the weird ability to legally buy super-amo clips of up to 30 rounds, like this guy had...these are DIRECT lines...no ambiguity at all...at the heighth of Leftist violence in America in the 60s and 70s the Democratic party was not calling for violence, calling for taking direct action if they lose at the ballot box...but the Tea Party IS!!! And as long as the Repubs donīt distance themselves from the Tea Party then theyīre just as guilty. I know Stewart doesnīt want to antagonize the Right, that he wants to let them know weīre all in this together..but we arenīt...the shooting in Arizona was CALLED for in so many words....I donīt remember the Dems ever doing that. No, Stewart, everything isnīt relative. --------------------- |
