Besides being bigots and ignorant, another absurd claim is when they argue that Jesus Christ spoke their language. First of all, even if he spoke a form of Aramaic, that wouldn't mean anything because I speak English but that doesn't make me ethnically English. But there is another shoking side to their "Jesus spoke or language myth. Just as in almost everything else that Christians lie about, this is just about another myth. It was and still is a popular opinion that Jesus spoke and preached in the Aramaic language, but more and more scholars in this field, and including Christians, now reject this theory and there is tremendous amount of evidence proving that the language he spoke was Hebrew. The misconception of the Aramaic language comes from the fact that there are words in the Hebrew language that may have Aramaic origin just as English has Latin, German, French and other words that are adopted or borrowed but that doesen't mean English is German or vice versa. This is nothing more that prejudice pride because the Christians hate Jews so much that they stripped poor Jesus from his jewishness in everyway. Perhaps that is why so many historians and scholars, mostly sincere Christians, are now realizing this and have authored pleanty of books on Jesus such as "rescuing Jesus from Christianity", "the historical Jesus" and many more. The church because of its hatred toward Jews, did everything to change Jesus and take him out of his culture and backround. Jesus was an Israelite, he followed their religion and tradition to the letter, ate kosher foods, prayed and preached in synagogues, participated in the passover, dressed like his people, loved his people and did everything else his forefathers did. Below are a few examples for this issue. "Jesus spoke and taught in the Hebrew language. His disciples listened and understood Hebraically. The story of Jesus and his teachings was originally circulated (apparently orally) in the Hebrew tongue. Says Professor Flusser "The early Christian writings reflect ideas, beliefs, views and trends in Second Temple Judaism. They reflect the world of the Sages, including the Sages’ Biblical exegesis, their parables, and even their own uncertainties" (Jewish Sources, p. 9). Continues Flusser, "One should view Jesus against his Jewish background, the world of the Sages, to recognize and appreciate his great influence on those around him. Only thus shall we be able to understand how Christianity was formed. Jesus was part and parcel of the world the Jewish Sages. He was no ignorant peasant, and his acquaintance with the Written and Oral Law was considerable…The truth of the matter…is that there is no difference between the views of Jesus and authentic Jewish tradition" (Flusser, pp. 19,20,25). Why the Misunderstanding? "For all that is written and said about Jesus in Christian circles, the misunderstanding of who and what he was is staggering. Dr. Brad Young explains at least some of the reasons for this: "Although Jesus was Jewish, his theology is sometimes treated as if he were Christian. But Jesus never attended a church. He never celebrated Christmas. He never wore new clothes on Easter Sunday…Jesus worshipped in the synagogue. He celebrated the Passover. He ate kosher food. He offered prayers in the temple in Jerusalem. The Jewish religious heritage of Jesus impacted his life in every dimension of his daily experience." "Jesus must be understood as a Jewish theologian. His theology is Jewish to the core…The attacks of the church against the synagogue have stripped Jesus of his religious heritage. As Christians we have been taught wrong prejudices about Jews and Judaism. Hatred for the Jewish people has erected a barrier separating Jesus from his theology…Jesus is Jewish both in his ethnic background and in his religious thought and practice" (Jesus the Jewish Theologian, p. xxxiv). "Professor Shmuel Safrai, also of Hebrew University, a founding member of the Jerusalem School, concluded that Hebrew, not Aramaic, was the primary spoken language of Jesus. He has since written several articles on the subject, some of which may be found in the periodical Jerusalem Perspective"(www.JerusalemPerspective.com). I think the above are enough quotes and I can see that just about everything about Christianity is a lie. It isn't Jesus (pbuh) that I hate as they like to accuse me of but it is the religion that the church fabricated abouth him that I reject. The Christians who hide behind Jesus while committing their crimes and then accuse others such as myself as "Jesus Haters" are nothing but cowards of the worse kind. It would be pretty cowardly of me to go and committ crimes while hiding beind Islam and then expect my victim not to defend him/herself against me. It's one thing if I attacked Jesus but I haven't done so. I instead refute the Christians and their lies about Jesus and I am also defending myself against them. One can't even turn the television without seeing something negative about Islam on the screen. So the only thing one can do is challenge them, prove them wrong and set things straight. It isn't Islam nor Muslims that are a threat to humanity but it is Christians. They have killed and devastated more people in the last 200 years or so than any other people. About 80 to 90% of the wars, crimes and other atrocities have been committed by people of the Christian faith, yet Islam is being portrayed as evil. We see high rising churches all over the Islamic world with church bells ringing but we don't see the same even in America, yet we are told by our nationalists that we were and are being persecuted because of our religion. --------------------- |
