i read a book about mesopatamia about two years ago and there is no mention of any "Assyrians" as of today. The book is modern and mostly deals with ancient mesopatamia since the author is an assyriologist but he even draws a timeline to modern events in iraq sush as the current war. The author speaks so much of the ancients yet makes it seem as if they are gone. It's almost as if he is not aware of the tiny Christian minority claiming to be directly related and are making demands. I am sure the author is aware there are Christians today in Iraq making silly claims but does not take it serious. I doubt any educated and sane individual would fall for such gimmick. That is also why history channel, nat geographics, time and the many others never mention them. The ancients are mentioned but is almost as if if there aren't any remains today and there really are none; at least not the way our nationalists wish. There are people eho may have Assyrian, Babylonian etc blood in them but that is different from Aprim. --------------------- |
