It is common for our nationalists, who are all self made experts on this subject, to say that Aramaic is Assyrian and the language is same. They tell us that the writing was different but not language. Reading a history book on ancient Assyrians, the author mentions that they became bilingual by speaking both languages. How does one become bilingual by speaking one language? They were two different languages and Aramaic replaced Assyrian soon after. They were both family languages but not same. These kind of claims are always made by those who are engineers, hair stylists, janitors, gas station workers etc but none of them are historians.
