...why not? They invented us. In his lecture in Brussels .. researcher Ashur Giwargis: “We aim at is convincing the Europeans of a safe haven for our people in Iraq” ...we tried that with the British...we tried it again with the Americans, but this time, THIS time, surely the Europeans will save us....no? Researcher and activist Ashur Giwargis ...just what does that mean..."researcher and activist"? It doesn't mean historian or political scientist or anyone with any claim to knowledge and legitimacy...any taxi driver can "research" and then do it "actively"...so what? said in Brussels, 29 December 2012 that establishing a safe haven for our people was the only solution that guarantees our rights, heritage and civilization. He assured that there was no chance in depending on the Iraqi constitution or on the constitution of kurdstan when demanding our rights. The only chance is in the 2007 United Nations Declaration of indigenous people rights. ...funny, they have safe havens all over the world, in America, in Europe in Australia...what have they done there to preserve anything...except their religions and even those are losing customers. In a lecture organized by the Assyrian Assembly in Belgium under the title: “The Assyrian Issue and the Duty of the Diaspora” he added: “We are here to convince the Europeans of establishing a safe haven for the Assyrians in Iraq. We have no hope in our parties and institutions that work in Iraq because they comply with fait accompli and say: “our hand is under the stone” which is true. However, here we are free to say and do everything that serves our issue and we are not restricted to what the parties produce. If we become powerful in the Diaspora, we can ask for help from Europeans. We must show our issue to the world and demand our right, the thing that the kurds have done to be heard and noticed”. ...yes but you people never stand your ground. If I was at your lecture and was given the chance I'd ask you three questions and by the third one either you would leave or I would be forced to...people listen out of respect, not because they believe anything you say....the old saying is that god, or in this case Europeans, help those help themselves. To you "doing something" is asking other people to do it FOR you. The very fact that none of you can agree on anything sort of tells Euros all they need to know. Ashur assured that: “the Iraqi constitution is Islamic; whereas that of kurdstan is Kurdish” and he clarified that “the second paragraph of the Iraqi constitution provides that no law can be made against firmed rules of Islam. So the non-Muslim citizen must study and understand Islam in order to live in Iraq, this was stated by one of the parliaments lately”. ...then leave. Here in America we constantly tell people, "if you don't like it here, go to Russia (or wherever)". Recently when someone asked Romney a question he replied by suggesting that if any American is dissatisfied with life here he should move to North Korea....so, LEAVE. He proceeded: “As for the kurdish constitution, it provides that Duhuk, Sulaimaniyah, Arbil, some parts of Mosul and Salah Iddeen are Kurdish lands. Some people talk about paragraph 125, but they must read the first paragraphs first and not only focus on paragraph 125. So we cannot depend on the Iraqi or Kurdish constitution, in spite of the agreement of most Iraqis, and we cannot refer to it. We must depend on the Indiginous People Declaration of the United Nations, therefore we can go to the international community to demand it to fulfill it for us. We can do that as a free community in Europe”. ...go to the international community and "demand it to....FOR us". The Iraqis didn;t do that...the Kurds didn't do that...they've been there every hour of every year fighting and dying for what they believe in...begging did them no good...why will it work for you?...also, Iraq could never "depend" on you Christians, except in one way: that whenever a Euro Christian attacked Iraq, you would cheer him on. Ashur also noted that he was to meet some European officials to show the conditions of our people in Iraq and what they are subjected to. He said: “ Now we aim at raising the idea of the safe haven, which is our right. What matters is convincing the Europeans of it so that they will raise it in the European Parliament, then there will be a talk about the geography of the region and other procedures that follow”. ...there is no "right" to anything. Black Americans were emancipated, in America, not Iraq...what rights were they given? They had to fight every step of the way and thousands were murdered for their efforts...did they run to Africa and BEG...or anywhere? Europeans know all about misery in the Third World...they CAUSE MUCH OF IT! You think what you can show them is going to impress them...you think they'll get teary-eyed and rush to save you? Where have you been...do some more research, only do it actively...read EVERYTHING and not just what you think might serve your purpose. It is scheduled that Ashur Giwargis meets some European officials in the European Parliament and the European Commission during his one-week visit in Brussels, the European Union capital. ...meets "some" officials. Those who have nothign better to do or who think to curry favor with their own Christians and minorities...no one who matters anywhere is going to meet with him...why, to be convinced that he MUST save Ashur...? « Last Edit: February 01, 2012, 05:21:18 PM by A.G » Report to moderator Logged All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become. (Buddha) ...well that's interesting. So all we need to do to become Assyrian is to think we are...which is what we've been saying all along...these dweebs think that by simply SAYING they are Assyrians and THINKING they are Assyrians they ARE Assyrians. I also support this choice but how can we go to the UN and ask for our rights. What is the procedure we must follow to ask for these rights and is there a specific way for minorities to go to the UN and make their voice heard. Finally, who decide to give this right to the indegenous people, is there a vote, possibility of a veto? ...the UN, which stripped Palestinians of their lands and homes to create Israel is not the place to complain....the UN enforces nothing...the UN also approved the war against the people of Iraq...you can see how "concerned" with the rights of people the UN is. If you have the answers, do not hesitate to post wink ...wink wink. --------------------- |
