...every so often they sit bolt upright over at Maggie's, realizing that for all their supposed greatness and zeal and whatever, they really haven't done anything, not even posted in a long time...so there's a sudden flurry of determined-sounding posts calling on 1000 warriors to sign up...or sending guns and bullets to Iraq...or forming an army of their own...or voting for their own Parliament, what they like to call their government-in-exile, though they were never anybody's "government", anywhere...still, it wakes up their fleas and lice and gets their watery blood pumping....for a couple of days...and then, inevitably, the whole thing dies down and those rousing posts are embarrassingly left up there for all to see(maybe that's the reason they instituted a new rule whereby all posts are removed from sight every two weeks, so as not to embarrass themselves by displaying their ineffectiveness for too long)...to see that nothing happened, no one signed up for any army or sent any guns or did anything, except bring a few assyrians out from the woodwork and from under rocks, usually with the result that the only fighting that took place was, as usual, against each other!

Most recently they decided to redefine assyrian politics or nationalism, or whatever....posts were posted, lengthy explications given...even the usual "articles" by Beth-Shlimon were dusted off and posted yet again complete with indecipherable "plans of actions" that no one understands or will ever put into effect...it's all a game...a game only they take seriously, and you have to wonder how even they can take it so....

Now, they might counter that all we do is talk and write as well...that we have no "plans of actions"...that we issue no calls for soldiers and armies and guns and bullets, that we make no dire threats against OUR enemies...and they are correct.

We need to no guns, never did, don;t even like them. It isn't our fault that our enemy, the assyrian nationalist, is such a grand coward that words alone will send him running and hiding...alas, they say, "Look at the enemies WE have chosen"! The frightful Turk...the bloodthirsty Qurd...the murderous Arab...look at who WE fight"! Except they don't fight anybody...hell, they can't even bear to TALK to these people but ban them all because these enemies of theirs will INSULT them....call them NAMES!

By their lights it doesn't matter if you actually fight with your enemy, or talk to him...it only matters that you choose a BIG enemy! That makes YOU "big".

While we....well, we are very, very, very small...because our enemy is microscopic...don't blame us because our enemy is a mere spot...a dot of fly shit on a map of assyria. Call us cowards for not choosing BIG enemies...but we're not looking to make a great show...our aim all along has been to make assyria RUN and HIDE itself...to ban ITSELF into a closet...and we've accomplished that many times over...is it OUR fault that our enemy is made of cotton candy?
