..looking through there I found a visiting scholar who was doing research on Syriac peoples....many papers and such are in a collection given to Harvarf by the prents of Eden Naby, who curates the collection, is assyrian and married to Richard Frye...in a recent exchange with her she chided me for falling for the newest fads, meaning Dr Joseph´s book...another one of us quick to betray a fellow...we are among the greatest traitors in history...anyway, I was intrigued that an actual scholar was bothering with anything assyrian...I read the article and though this was interesting...

"Often called Assyrians, Arameans or Chaldeans, the Syriac-speaking people are an ancient Christian group with roots in Iraq, Syria, Iran and Turkey. Following World War I a plan was in place to create an autonomous region for the Syriac-speaking population, but the plan collapsed due to the lack of political power and backing from the Great Powers. Without a homeland to bind the population together, Gharib said, the result was a scattered people around the world. With no unifying national identify, the community is today fractured, with no single leader to represent the population or preserve the culture. "

This is not exactly a ringing endorsement for modern assyrians...."Often CALLED Assyrians"...well yes, they do often call THEMSELVES assyrians....this is hardly "proof" that a serious scholar takes them seriously...what does he really say? He says that Syriac speaking people are CALLED assyrian aramean and chaldean...okay, what people call each other is only evidence of what they CALL each other....but our boys will see EVIDENCE..."SEE, he SAID we are called ASSYRIANS"!
