...among the nationalists especially....mostly it's the uneducated villagers and city proles who shout the loudest about who they are and what they are owed...partly that's because they all went to church schools so they wouldn't mix with the enemy-Muslims...these church madrassahs were taught by ill-educated, foolish, canting priests and what wasn't purely religious was idiotically nationalistic and "political" but always with a large shmear of Jesus generously slathered on top of everything. From these schools emerged the assyrians who could just barely manage to put up with real universities in major cities of Iraq...they could handle engineering, even medicine, but not history or any of the Humanities because these all had that Muslim "slant" so hated by the village priests and their students...that's the main reason we have only produced on legitimate historian, Dr John Joseph, and also the reason he is hated by these very nationalists, because he knows his stuff and they merely imagine theirs. But it doesn't end there...these engineers and doctors and other college graduates could seek education and knowledge on this subject but their false pride in their diplomas and their unwillingness to admit ignorance or error keeps them wedded to all the simple-minded prejudice they were taught as "history" in those basement church madrassahs. assyrians are almost genetically predisposed towards ignorance and then pride-in-ignorance. Their very beliefs in their supposed descent from the ancient Assyrians ensures this. They refuse to learn, to seek, to admit error, to admit ignorance, which is the main prerequisite for seeking knowledge...they "know who we are and what our history is"....that's enough for them. It would be the same if their priests taught them that three plus three equals sixteen, and told them JESUS said so....what chance would they stand in a real math or science class...or by the same token, in ANY academic pursuit? Very little...which is where they're at. --------------------- |
