..since you are busy and only able to read in snatches I thought to focus on one point you made: "On bashing John Joseph's book... Isn't this rehashed old news? I think I got banned in 2002 from AINA for defending the book. Why the reruns in conversation?" ...the simple answer to this is that everything in assyria is old and rehashed. I started out to do something new and different by making public monuments reflecting the Assyrian, not Christian, Heritage. It was the bizarre reaction to those endevors which made me realize something is rotten in Denmark and assyria too. So I set out to figure out what it is and how it came to be and where it's leading to. Why are these people making the same claims all over again...year after year...decade after decade? Have they gained anything by it? What have they lost? The nationalist pose is a front...a front for religious sects who've been having this same argument since before the Arabs came...only recently they've decided to add a political/national front to Jesus...but everything else remained the same. This argument that we are diret descendants of the ancients has given Christian fundamentalists a front behind which they wage the same tired old religious fueds...they have brought nothing positive to the lives of the people they supposedly want to help, on the contrary they have cost us all more and more damage and loss as well as splitting their sects into even more sects...and yet here they are, all over again, ready and set to go do more of the same. Any sane person would wonder if their goals are quite different than their stated aim..which is not to "protect" the Iraqi Christians and even their Christian heritage, but to get them run out of the country or killed. The nationalists are using the plight of the very people whose lives THEY put in jeopardy...and when the retribution comes they say, "we TOLD you they were being persecuted"! There's a Kurdistan now where we were told an Assyria would go...has that slowed them down at all...has it made them reconsider their "tactics" and strategy and their penchant for believing whatever sounds pleasing without examining it more closely...like all the "promises" they think they've been given...and what they believe they "deserve"? Not at all...rather they're looking even harder for the "traitors" who MUST have betrayed them, turning cousin against cousin and friend against friend...never ever realizing that their failure is built into their plans for "success"...and always has been. In light of this "contract on assyria" our nationalists have issued, it seemed to me best to lay off more public monuments, since it's our own people who try the hardest to cause them to fail..and instead look at the underbelly of this assyria...and I don't think it's been done yet in quite this way...certainly not on the internet...which is where these nationalists are spreading their poison. Our "enemy" is within...as we've always suspected. And it's not the people these nationalists identify either...it is, rather, themselves...as it usually is with those who first claim there are "enemies" undoing their "patriotic work"...like Bush and the neo-cons have tried to pull off...saying that those who opposed the war against Iraq are the "enemies of freedom" ...when it's been Bush and his cronies all along who've been OUR enemies...as Hitler turned out to be the greatest enemy the German people ever had. There aren't many Christians left in Iraq. Our nationalists, all safely out of Iraq, want those few remaining ones to stay there, in order to make a "presence". They also don't want them taking any money from our "enemy" Kurds...neither will they send them any serious money..and, they want them to create a MILITIA! Which leaves those Christians exactly where? It seems to me very worthwhile to point out that these so-called nationalist, so-called assyrians are using the, now deadly serious, plight of the Christians of Iraq as merely another facet of their "strategy"..which has been, all along, to make the world hate Islam as they hate it...to blame Islam as they blame it, for all their own personal failings as well as the reduced role of Jesus and Christianity. I don't believe this has been tried before on such a level. That's something "new" in assyria. And until it's accomplished we're going to be rehashing this old crap about what we're owed and who we are until we've driven the last Christians from Iraq..and blamed Islam for it. --------------------- |
