...while it's true that you can never tell what the NEXT blow will do...in other wrods though you haven't been killed by a few blows to the head, you can't know that the next blow might not kill you...it is also true that if a man attacks you with a feather, whipping you madly with it while doing no more than tickling you...still, you can't be sure the NEXT blow might go through your eye and blind or even kill you...but, er chrissakes!!!! You're being beaten by a FEATHER!

Was it REASONABLE, based on the actual bruises Zimmerman suffered, to assumw the next blow might have killed him? Why not a warning shot? But then there'd be a witness.
