...the lastest massacre brings out the usual responses....I like the pro-gun argument that says..."There are states with tough gun laws but people get killed there just the same...so gun control doesn't work".

...right, and there are states where rapes occur even though rape is illegal....so get rid of rape laws because "they don't work".....same with theft laws, and child-support laws and laws against child porn.....by the same logic of gun-nut Christians we shouldn't bother with any laws because laws don't stop people from committing crimes...no, they don't. But that isn't the reason we have laws against certain activities society doesn't want to leave unpunished....it has these laws to express human values and to know what to do when someone gets raped or killed or has their bank robbed.
