...you'll have no trouble believing Donald Rumsfeld, or Dick Cheney...that's the value of religion; it gets you to eschew evidence and go for "faith" in your leaders....that's the reason the Repubs are so hot on Jesus, using things like morality, family values and right-to-life, not because they believe any of it but because it induces people to rely on faith, on preposterous "miracles"...such as "the Iraqi people will welcome us with open arms", or, "we have to fight over there so we don't fight over here"..that kind of blind faith.

That's also why every serious revolution tries to gut the Christian Church...because they know full well that its main function is to serve the interests of the ruling few, who in turn allow it to fuck people in the name of God...even in America the founding fathers were determined to at least remove the church from government where in Europe it had been a handmaiden of repression.
