I am speechless and know not what to say...neither does Kakovitch but that never stopped him yet.... ‘SWIMMING UPSTREAM!’ By Ivan Kakovitch (This article is written to repudiate the article posted below as ‘Our Parties and organizations sign a memorandum regarding the Iraqi Kurdistan Constitution Draft'). It is a rather perplexing and mesmerizing to read the signed Memorandum purportedly issued by five (5) political bodies of Kurdistan, that have the audacity to call themselves as saviors of millennia-old indigenous population of Mesopotamia, namely, Assyria. Messrs. Nimrod Baito Youkhana, Dr. Goriel Esho Khamis, Saeed Yaco Shemaya, Poles Shamoun Ishaq and Romeo Hakkari, have added their illustrious names to an indignantly refutable letter, under the auspices of safeguarding the Nation Assyria. By issuing such a statement, a grossly provocative and negligent act is being committed against national sanity of any nation, in general, and Assyria, in particular. This Memorandum of Iraqi Kurdistan Constitution Draft, hereafter referred to as CCC (Coerced Curdish Constitution), is another one of these irreparable errors and treacherously devised steps toward the annihilation of whatever is left of Assyria. Obviously, with not a slightest of intents of being discourteous to a rather proud and a deserving Nation of Kurds, supplanting ‘C’ in lieu of ‘K’ in the above paragraph, is merely to irradiate how impairing and disgraceful it is, altogether, to change the whole name of a nation, specifically Assyria, in favor of an ecclesiastically sectarian denomination, and a dialectic nomenclature. But that is not the full extent of desecration of name only. This obliviously nebulous theory is specifically designated to eradicate the word ‘Assyria’ from memory, and to give way for it to disappear totally from the history books that are to be rewritten when, and NOT if, Kurdistan declares its duly deserving and long-delayed independence and sovereignty. Whereas, the Kurds have many bridges to cross before such a just act is brought to fruition, the word ‘Assyria’ is a thorn, not in the mainstay of power, but in the mainstream of legitimacy when seeking due process of law, and, more importantly, international law. Just how can a Kurd, regardless of the weight of his clout, prosecute the path toward independence, from a dominant Arab, while, at the same time, neglecting the same right and attribution to another ethnic and indigenous national in the same geo-political arena, as Mesopotamia, namely, Assyrian. Less than six months ago, a Province of sovereign nation, numbering less than a quarter million of inhabitants, namely Montenegro, declared its independence from Serbia, and was recognized as a sovereign nation by international world body organizations. This writer dares anyone to stand up and to declare that Assyria, with no more than 1.5 million, but not less than 1 million souls in Mesopotamia alone is not entitled to the same privileges as the Kurds? This is despite the fact that another 1 million or 1 ½ million have been misplaced due to prevailing circumstances for the past nine decades, ever since the fall of the Ottoman Empire, when, Assyria and not Arabia nor Kurdistan had a geographically demarcated boundary, and a duly nationally and internationally recognized autonomy for over four centuries of the Ottoman occupation. The audacity and the emblematic pronunciation of so-called political parties of Kurdistan that are hammering this obtrusive, and superfluously enslaving diagram for the nation Assyria, is exemplified in one word. ‘Absurd’. This ill designed and ill proportioned Memorandum, presented by Assyrian Patriotic Party, ChaldoAshur org. of Kurdistani Communist Party, Chaldean Democratic Forum, Chaldean Cultural Association, and Bet Nahrain Democratic Party, is calamitous in tone and content, after one dissects its conjecture in almost every paragraph. (See examples): · “…Our people (Chaldean Assyrian Syuriac)? [No more nation, just people]. · “…Iraq is made of Arabs, Kurds, Turkmans, (Chaldeans Assyrians Syriacs), and Armenians? [All are nationalities, but Assyria is an ecclesiastically and linguistically parenthesized nation]. · “…We propose to rewrite paragraph one of article 6 to read… the people of Kurdistan are made of Kurds, (Chaldeans Assyrians Syriacs), Turkma[e]ns, Arabs, and Armenians? [Bis for previous paragraph]. THEREFORE, nationally, theoretically, practically, sanctimoniously, justly, and most of all, politically, the Memorandum presented by the five (5) CCC obfuscated Draft is: HERFEBY refuted, and laid to rest, as, it is appropriately, fit by all concerned Assyrians, and by all that there is Assyria. IT IS HERETOFORE, the conclusion of this writer, and perhaps most, if not all Assyrians, that, as Assyrians, we wash our hands of this Memorandum. However, the five signatories, and the parties they represent, are free to follow the paths, any which way they choose, with perhaps two cautionary sentences: Keep Assyria at Bay from Your Schemes! Assyria Shall Not Contemplate Swimming Upstream! ...upstream? Assyria drowned under the weight of your crap. --------------------- |
